During my drive home this evening, I got to thinking about being engaged.

I will spend my entire 27th year of life – my golden year – being engaged. And I’m not going to lie, I really, really like that idea. It seems like a really fancy idea. Something to reflect on when I’m 80, something to tell our future puppies about. It’s like I get to have a whole themed year. All for my own self. Jeff can come too!

Which I guess also indirectly brings me to a time line. A countdown to becoming a wifeee. Now don’t get all dramatic on me, the date has not been set. BUT. But, a time frame has. November or December of 2011. I’m leaning December.

They tell you when you find your wedding dress, you’re just going to know. And that’s sort of how I feel about the resort. We’ve done a lot of research, we called a travel agent, we stalked people the Internet who have been married there. And so my gut tells me we have our resort. So now I’m the annoying girl who will walk around for the next year of her life talking about paradise in Punta Cana (where the food will be fantastic, BTW!).  You are welcome.

A little note to those who plan to come: Start saving your Golden. You’re going to need it. You guys, it’s beautiful. And this is the one time in my life I’m not going to care about how much something costs. Because this is my wedding and I’m going to do this exactly once. (Steps off soapbox). The pools and the restaurants and bars, outdoor showers (YOU GUYS, I’m just going to hang out there for the sake of), ocean views, drinks with umbrellas. And suddenly, December of 2011 seems really, really far away.

But I can wait. I am enjoying this being engaged thing. I’ll only ever do this once, so I might as well take a whole year (and a half). Next up: Dress shopping!
